ACCIÓ will have a stand at the Disrupt SF 2016, which will bring together more than 5,000 Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and major venture capital funds and US technology corporations.

The Generalitat through ACCIÓ, the agency of the Generalitat for the competitiveness of the company, has selected the 15 Catalan companies that will participate this September in the Disrupt of San Francisco (United States) through a stand of the Generalitat. Organized by Tech Crunch, which has also collaborated in the selection process, it is the most important event in the world of start-ups with disruptive technologies, which will gather more than 5,000 entrepreneurs from September 12 to 15 of Silicon Valley, 400 start-ups from other invited countries and major venture capital funds and American technology corporations. This is the first time ACCIÓ will have a physical presence in this event.

During the event, the start-ups will hold meetings with large American companies and investors -Contacts made by the ACCIÓ office in Silicon Valley- and present their projects of disruptive innovation to the region’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Catalan start-ups are selected Agroptima, Broomx Technologies, Bwom Technologies, Eodyne, Gestoos, HealthApp, Kompyte, Ledmotive, Mint Labs, Restb, Sekg, Mediktor, The Construct, Tech4freedom and Zolertia. In total, 128 Catalan companies submitted applications to be part of this mission, and the selected ones have received advice and support from ACCIÓ to prepare the presentations they will make to investors in the United States.

In addition, during the congress, Catalan start-ups will have the opportunity to participate in Startup Battlefield, a world-renowned and award-winning competition of $ 50,000 where entrepreneurs present their projects and receive advice from investors and experts. Since 2007, there have been 610 start-ups, which have raised more than $ 6.1 billion, while some of the winners of past editions have been Dropbox or Mint.

Al Disrupt SF this year will highlight the projects of augmented reality, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, autonomous driving, robotics and the Internet of Things (IOT). According to the director of ACCIÓ’s office in Silicon Valley, Anselm Bossacoma, “Catalan start-ups will present their projects to some of the most influential American investors and will be able to disclose their disruptive innovations to a worldwide forum where it is very important to see and leave see”. For Bossacoma, “here are born many companies that then end up quoting on the stock exchange, expand globally or end up being acquired by large quantities by multinational corporations.”

This year will take part speakers such as Shervin Pishevar (founder of the Sherpa Capital investment fund, which has invested in companies like Airbnb or Uber), Marc Andreessen (co-founder of Netscape and co-author of Mosaic, the first web browser, created in the decade Ninety) or the American science fiction writer Neal Stephensen.
